Position Summary
As a Student Voter Registration Ambassador, you will play a critical role in promoting civic engagement among college students. You will be responsible for registering voters on your assigned campus or within the local community through direct outreach methods like door-to-door canvassing and phone banking. This part-time role involves engaging with students, providing voter information, and ensuring that eligible individuals are registered to vote ahead of upcoming elections.
Key Responsibilities
- Student Outreach: Engage students in conversations about the importance of voting and encourage them to register to vote.
- Voter Registration Assistance: Help students complete voter registration forms, both in-person and online.
- Canvassing & Phone Banking: Conduct door-to-door canvassing and phone banking to connect with students and community members about voter registration.
- Information Dissemination: Provide accurate, nonpartisan information regarding voting procedures, deadlines, and upcoming elections.
- Progress Tracking: Record and report registration activities and results to your campus team lead after each shift.
- Compliance: Ensure voter registration forms are submitted in accordance with election laws and deadlines.
- Health & Safety: Follow health and safety protocols, including COVID-19 precautions, during outreach efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Student Status: Current student or recent graduate from Cheyney University, Lincoln University, Temple University, Drexel University, or University of Pennsylvania.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication and public engagement abilities.
- Civic Enthusiasm: Passionate about civic engagement and increasing student participation in the democratic process.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to work independently, stay organized, and meet registration goals.
- Outreach Comfort: Comfortable with canvassing and phone banking efforts.
- Physical Capability: Ability to walk or stand for up to 6 hours during outreach shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with voter registration, canvassing, or campaign work.
- Familiarity with voting laws, voter registration procedures, and election guidelines.
- Experience with grassroots organizing or community outreach.
Compensation
- $22/hour
- Bi-weekly pay schedule
