Position Summary: As an Election Petition Gatherer, you will play a pivotal role in our campaign by collecting signatures to get our candidate on the ballot. Your efforts will directly impact the democratic process and contribute to the success of our campaign. This is a temporary position focused on a specific period leading up to the election.

Duration: 1 day Project

Work Schedule: Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

 

Voter Education Project seeks applicants for a Petition Gathering in Washington, DC. This is a entry level position great for college students /community leaders looking to take the next step in their career and gain additional experience. The petition Gathering role varies based on project, including tasks such as setting up and managing petitions signing stations, organize and maintain all necessary materials for signature collection, including petitions, clipboards, informational materials, and promotional items. Keep an accurate record of collected signatures, including names, addresses and contact information. Familiarize yourself with the local election laws and regulations pertaining to petition gathering. Ensure that all collected signatures are valid and meet the specified criteria. 

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

 

  • Detail-oriented and driven.
  • Background in grassroots campaigning (participation in at least two initiatives).
  • Proficiency with petitioning tools and software.

 

Your Role for the Day:

 

  • Surpass key performance indicators for signature collection.
  • Mobilize and engage with forward-thinking communities in your designated sector.
  • Participate in briefing sessions and team gatherings.
  • Forge meaningful connections within your community.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability.

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Basic literacy skills (capable of reading and explaining the petition).
  • Reliable means of transport to and from the location.
  • Completion of secondary education (high school diploma or GED).
  • Capacity to be on your feet for the duration of the day.

 

Desirable Attributes (But Not Essential):

 

  • Previous experience in petition drives or canvassing.
  • Acquaintance with strategic community engagement and petition campaign metrics.
  • In-depth knowledge of the local area, including its demographics, and pressing issues.

 

Salary: $22/hour
